Indian EV startup Ather Energy has announced that it will introduce its new ‘EL’ electric scooter platform on August 30th 2025 at the Ather Community Day. The update was confirmed by co-founder and CEO Tarun Mehta through a post on X (formerly Twitter).

In his post Meta stated, “Super excited to unveil our next generation scooter platform ‘EL’ in the upcoming Ather Community Day on 30th August. Building up on the decade long learnings from the 450 and Rizta platform, this one is extremely versatile, lower cost and highly scalable. And this time, we also have a concept on the platform to showcase!”
New EL Platform
The EL platform has been developed to form the base for Ather’s next range of electric scooters positioned below the existing 450 line-up. Design cues will carry forward elements from both the 450 and the Rizta while focusing on models in the sub-Rs 1 lakh segment.
Technical Structure
The new platform will feature an updated powertrain and electronics while continuing to utilise certain components from the 450’s battery system and Atherstack framework. This approach is aimed at balancing development costs with scale.
Domestic Market & Export Focus
While the company has not confirmed specific products, concept scooters based on the EL platform are expected to be shown at the event. The platform is being prepared for models meant for both Indian and international markets.
Charging & Software Updates
Alongside the EL platform, Ather will also launch its new-generation fast chargers. The brand will introduce AtherStack 7.0, the updated version of its software stack, which will bring fresh features and improvements across its range.
