Audi E SUV Concept Debuts in China, Production Version To Launch in 2026
Audi has introduced the E SUV concept at Auto Guangzhou 2025, marking a significant step in its electric vehicle strategy for China. This concept previews the E8 SUV, set for production in early 2026, and follows the successful E5 Sportback. Audi has revealed the E SUV concept at Auto Guangzhou 2025, outlining the next phase of its electric vehicle strategy for the Chinese market. The concept previews the upcoming E8 SUV, which will enter production in early 2026 through the brand established jointly with SAIC.

The Audi E SUV concept is the second model under the AUDI sub-brand created for China. It follows the E5 Sportback, which recorded more than 10,000 preorders within thirty minutes of its reveal earlier this year. Audi’s partnerships with FAW and SAIC continue to support development, localisation, and production of its EV portfolio.
Dimensions, Powertrain and Range
The Audi E SUV concept measures 5,057 mm in length, 2,042 mm in width and 1,786 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,060 mm. It uses a dual-motor layout with quattro all-wheel drive and produces 500 kW (670.51 bhp). The company claims 0 to 100 kmph in about 5 seconds.
A 109kWh battery supports the setup and is paired with an 800-volt electrical architecture. Audi claims a driving range of more than 700 km on the CLTC test cycle. The fast-charging system can add around 320 km of driving range in ten minutes at a high-power DC charger.
Features and Technology
The concept uses the Audi 360 Driving Assist System, calibrated for highway, urban and parking scenarios in China. A lidar sensor is positioned above the windscreen, and the cabin layout is expected to mirror the E5 Sportback with a 27-inch 4K display. The SUV uses cameras in place of traditional mirrors and features digital rear-view displays.

Alongside the E SUV concept, Audi showcased the A6L e-tron, the first all-electric version of the long-wheelbase sedan for China. Built on the PPE platform, the A6L e-tron carries a 107 kWh battery and has a claimed range of up to 770 km (CLTC). It also uses an 800-volt system capable of recovering 320 km of range in ten minutes.
Production of the A6L e-tron takes place at the Audi FAW NEV plant in Changchun. The model receives a wheelbase of 3,060 mm and features infotainment and driver-assist functions developed specifically for the market.
Gernot Dollner, CEO of AUDI AG, says, “We have realigned our setup in China for the future. As a result, with our two partners FAW and SAIC and with two brands, the largest model initiative in our company’s history is gaining momentum. We are moving at a swift pace – we have already launched five new local models in the second half of 2025 alone. Each model is specially designed to meet the needs of our Chinese customers.”
