Audi Q9 Debuts Globally as Brand's Largest SUV Yet, India Launch on the Cards
Audi has officially unveiled the all-new Q9, the biggest and most premium SUV the German carmaker has ever built. Positioned above the Q7 and Q8 in the brand's global portfolio, the new Q9 takes on established luxury SUVs such as the BMW X7, Mercedes-Benz GLS and the Range Rover. The Audi Q9 will be available for order from the end of July 2026, with customer deliveries set to begin in November. The entry-level Q9 TDI, powered by a 220 kW engine, is priced from 108,400 euros.
Key Highlights:
- Audi has revealed the all-new Q9, its biggest and most luxurious SUV yet.
- The flagship SUV features three-row seating, advanced technology and premium comfort features.
- Powered by a 3.0-litre mild-hybrid diesel globally, while India will get a petrol-only version.
- The Q9 is expected to arrive in India as a CBU before local assembly is considered.
Stretching over 5.3 metres in length, the Audi Q9 is built to offer maximum cabin space and passenger comfort. It comes with three rows of seating as standard, while buyers can also opt for a six-seat version with electrically adjustable captain seats in the second row.
The flagship SUV also gets powered doors, Audi's largest panoramic sunroof to date, adaptive air suspension and all-wheel steering for improved ride comfort and easier manoeuvrability. At the rear, the Q9 features a new-generation curved OLED tail lamp setup that gives it a distinctive look.
Inside, the cabin gets Audi's latest triple-screen dashboard layout along with an Android Automotive-based infotainment system. The SUV also comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and other premium comfort features.
Mild-Hybrid V6 Power for Global Markets
At launch, the Audi Q9 is available with a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine paired with a mild-hybrid system. The powertrain develops 299PS and 630Nm of torque and is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Power is delivered to all four wheels through Audi's renowned quattro all-wheel-drive system.
For the Indian market, however, Audi is expected to offer the Q9 with a petrol engine instead of the diesel unit available overseas.
India Launch Expected Via CBU Route
Audi is expected to bring the Q9 to India through the Completely Built Unit (CBU) route initially. Since the company already assembles the Q7 locally, a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) strategy for the Q9 could be explored later, depending on market demand.
With the arrival of the Q9, Audi will strengthen its presence in India's growing ultra-luxury SUV segment, where demand for large, feature-packed premium SUVs has been steadily increasing.
