Audi Q9 Flagship SUV Launched in UK, India Launch to Follow
Audi has officially opened bookings for the all-new Q9 in the UK, marking the arrival of its largest and most premium SUV yet. Positioned above the Q7, the Q9 brings a three-row cabin, a powerful V6 engine and a focus on luxury and rear-seat comfort. The SUV is priced from £103,900, which is approximately Rs 1.18 crore. Deliveries in the UK are set to begin in November 2026, while the Audi Q9 is expected to arrive in India next year.
Key Highlights:
Audi Q9 UK price starts at £103,900 (around Rs 1.18 crore)- India launch expected in 2027
- Powered by a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine with 300bhp and 630Nm
- Will rival the BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS in India
Audi Q9: Biggest Audi SUV Yet
The Audi Q9 measures 5,310mm in length, 2,210mm in width and 1,810mm in height, making it the largest production model from the German carmaker. It gets a 3,140mm wheelbase and comes with a seven-seat layout as standard.
The large dimensions are expected to translate into a spacious cabin, particularly for passengers in the second and third rows. Audi is also expected to focus heavily on comfort and premium features, helping the Q9 establish itself as the brand's flagship SUV.
Audi Q9: Engine and Gearbox
In the UK, the Q9 is currently available with a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine producing 300bhp and 630Nm of torque. The engine is paired with an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic gearbox and Audi's quattro all-wheel-drive system.
The SUV also gets a mild-hybrid system. Audi says the technology can allow the Q9 to carry out certain driving functions electrically while also improving throttle response and efficiency.
Audi Q9: India Launch and Rivals
The Q9 will become Audi's flagship SUV in India when it arrives next year, sitting above the Q7 in the company's local line-up. Its launch will also come at a time when Audi is updating its SUV portfolio, with the new-generation Q3 expected to arrive in India soon.
Once launched, the Q9 will compete with other full-size luxury SUVs, including the BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS. Its three-row seating, long wheelbase and focus on rear-seat comfort could give it an edge among buyers looking for a chauffeur-driven luxury SUV.
Audi Q9 India: Powertrain
The biggest question for the Indian market will be the Q9's powertrain. While the UK model has been introduced with a V6 diesel engine, Audi has not yet confirmed the specifications of the India-spec SUV.
The final pricing and engine options will play a key role in determining the Q9's position in India's full-size luxury SUV segment. If priced competitively, the new flagship could become a strong rival to the BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS.
