BMW M 1000 RS: Engine and Performance
The BMW M 1000 RS is powered by a water-cooled, 999cc, four-cylinder engine that produces 215 bhp and 113 Nm of peak torque. The same engine also powers the fully faired BMW M 1000 RR. BMW claims that the motorcycle can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.2 seconds, while its top speed stands at 283 kmph. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox and a mechanically operated anti-hopping wet multi-plate clutch.
The suspension setup includes a 45 mm upside-down front fork and a rear monoshock. Both units feature Dynamic Damping Control (DDC) technology.
BMW M 1000 RS: Design and Features
The new M 1000 RS comes with the BMW M Competition package, which gives it a distinctive appearance with matte carbon fibre components and exclusive graphics. It features matte carbon winglets with RS branding, a brushed aluminium fuel tank and a rear section borrowed from the M 1000 RR.
Other design highlights include an Alcantara-style seat with RS embroidery, M carbon wheels and a full titanium exhaust system. The motorcycle also gets footrests from the M 1000 RR.
Compared with the BMW M 1000 R, the new RS gets a seat that is 20 mm higher. This results in a more forward-leaning riding position, which is intended to offer a sportier riding experience. In terms of features, the motorcycle gets full-LED headlights, a TFT instrument display, cruise control, heated grips, Riding Modes Pro, a quickshifter and Keyless Ride.
BMW M 1000 RS: Braking and Safety Features
