Maruti Suzuki GST Price Cut Benefits, Save Up to Rs 1.29 Lakh.
Maruti GST Rate Cut: Maruti Suzuki has announced significant price cuts across its vehicle lineup due to recent GST tax slab revisions. The government introduced two tax categories: 18% for smaller petrol and diesel cars, and 40% for larger vehicles. Maruti's varied portfolio, including hatchbacks, sedans, SUVs, and MPVs, now sees price reductions ranging from Rs 46,400 to Rs 1,29,600. Notable reductions include Rs 1.29 lakh for S-Presso and Rs 1.07 lakh for Alto K10, with other models like Swift, Dzire, and several SUVs also benefitting from the cuts.

Similar to Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors has announced significant price cuts across its vehicle range, with reductions up to Rs 1.55 lakh. Hyundai is also revising prices, with cuts up to Rs 2.40 lakh on models like the Tucson. This trend indicates a broader industry response to the GST reforms, aimed at making vehicles more affordable and stimulating demand in the auto sector.
Alongside the price cuts, Maruti Suzuki has enhanced safety features in models like the Alto K10 and S-Presso, adding Electronic Stability Program (ESP) as standard across all variants. Other standard safety features include ABS with EBD, dual-front airbags, reverse parking sensors, and engine immobilizers, reflecting the company's commitment to safety without raising prices.
The GST rate cut is expected to enhance affordability for consumers by significantly lowering the tax burden on small cars and motorcycles. With reductions in tax rates from 28% to 18% for vehicles under certain specifications, consumers can expect a decrease in the overall purchase price, making personal mobility more accessible to a larger segment of the population.
While smaller vehicles benefit from reduced GST rates, larger vehicles and SUVs remain at a 40% tax slab. This means that while affordability for compact cars increases, the cost of larger vehicles remains high. This distinction could influence consumer preferences and purchasing decisions as buyers weigh the benefits of smaller, more affordable options against larger, more expensive models.
Toyota has committed to passing on the full benefits of the GST rate cuts to its customers, with reductions ranging from Rs 48,700 on the Rumion to Rs 3.49 lakh on the Fortuner. This reflects a competitive strategy to maintain market share and enhance customer loyalty by making their vehicles more affordable in light of the new tax structure.
