Platform and Exterior
The Crater Concept is based on a compact monocoque structure. The proportions are developed for rough-surface use, with steep approach and departure angles. The concept sits on 18-inch wheels wrapped in 33-inch off-road tyres. Hyundai has used its Art of Steel design philosophy, visible in the sharply cut bodysides, wide underbody skid plate, and sheer fender profile.
Functional elements include limb risers on the bonnet, rocker panels shaped using protective case design, and built-in recovery hooks that also double as bottle openers. The roof carries a platform for mounting equipment and lights, including four driving lamps.
The concept also previews design ideas such as hexagonal wheels, removable mirror-mounted cameras, three-dimensional indirect lighting and parametric signature lamps. The colour displayed at LA was Dune Gold Matte.

Interior And Controls
The cabin focuses on utility. Surfaces use durable materials, and the dashboard employs a bent-metal-style crash pad that visually links the interior to exterior design cues. Perforations on the crash pad allow ambient light to pass through. A full-width head-up display relays a camera feed to the driver.
The seats have wraparound forms with three-dimensional padding and side bolsters, paired with four-point harnesses. Grab handles are built into the structure for support during off-road movement. Practical additions include a first-aid kit on the passenger side, a fire extinguisher on the driver side, and a removable speaker mounted in the centre console.
The steering wheel is squared-off and includes a centre pixel display. Buttons for terrain modes: Snow, Sand, Mud, Auto and XRT are integrated. The concept also features a multi-function gear-type controller for off-road use, front and rear locking differentials, downhill brake control and trailer brake control. The interior colour theme shown was Black Ember with orange contrast elements.
