Jaguar Type 01 Electric GT Unveiled with 643 Km Claimed Range

Jaguar has unveiled the Type 01, its first production model based on the new Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA). The four-seat electric grand tourer gets a tri-motor setup producing up to 1,016 hp and 1,365 Nm, along with a claimed range of up to 643 km under the EPA cycle. Production is scheduled to begin in 2027 at Jaguar Land Rover’s Solihull facility in the UK.
The Type 01 is the first model from Jaguar’s new generation of vehicles as the brand moves towards an electric-only product portfolio. The electric GT combines a long bonnet, low roofline and extended rear section with a four-seat cabin.

Jaguar Type 01: Electric Powertrain

The Jaguar Type 01 uses three electric motors, with one motor mounted on the front axle and two at the rear. The system produces up to 1,016PS and 1,365Nm of torque.
Jaguar claims the electric GT can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 3.2 seconds. The car also gets intelligent torque vectoring and a 50:50 weight distribution.
The Type 01 features air suspension and adaptive dampers, along with rear-wheel steering. Jaguar says the rear wheels can turn by up to 6 degrees to improve manoeuvrability at lower speeds. The electric GT also gets multiple drive modes, including settings designed to alter the power delivery, suspension and steering characteristics.

Jaguar Type 01: Battery Pack & Charging

The Type 01 is equipped with a 118 kWh battery and an 850-volt electrical architecture. Jaguar expects the model to deliver up to 643 km of EPA-rated range. Under the WLTP testing cycle, the claimed range is up to 720 km. Jaguar also estimates a highway range of up to 514 km under sustained high-speed driving.
The Type 01 supports DC fast charging at up to 350 kW. The company claims that the battery can gain up to 321 km of range in around 13 minutes when connected to a compatible high-power charger.

Jaguar Type 01: Design

The Type 01 has been developed with a focus on aerodynamic efficiency. It gets a long bonnet, short front overhang, low roofline and a stretched rear section. The electric GT rides on 23-inch wheels and has a claimed drag coefficient of 0.23, making it the most aerodynamic production Jaguar to date. The car also features active aerodynamic elements. These include front cooling vanes and an active rear spoiler that adjusts according to the driving conditions. At the front, the Type 01 gets slim LED projector headlights, while the rear lighting is integrated into the lower section of the tail.

Jaguar Type 01: Cabin & Features

The Type 01 gets a four-seat cabin with a central spine running between the front and rear seats. Jaguar has used a 24-inch OLED display as the main screen for the driver. A separate 7-inch touchscreen is positioned between the front seats and provides access to frequently used functions. The cabin also gets a full-width panoramic soundbar integrated into the dashboard. Jaguar has paired the audio system with Sensory Audio seats. The Type 01 uses camera-based rear-view technology and features over-the-air software updates.

Jaguar Type 01: Production

Production of the Jaguar Type 01 will begin in 2027 at the company’s Solihull plant in the UK. Its electric drive units and battery packs will be manufactured in Wolverhampton, while body panels will be produced at Halewood. Jaguar plans to start accepting orders in early 2027, with deliveries expected to begin in the second half of the year.
