Kalyani Powertrain Partners With Compal Electronics For Server Manufacturing In India
Kalyani Powertrain, a subsidiary of Bharat Forge, has signed a technology licensing agreement with Taiwan-based Compal Electronics to manufacture servers in India. The partnership aims to develop a local supply chain for X86 platform servers, aligning with the Indian government’s "Make in India" policy.
As part of the agreement, Compal will provide technology support, oversee local assembly and testing, and assist in final sales.
Amit Kalyani, Bharat Forge Vice Chairman & Jt MD, said: “It gives us an immense pleasure to partner with a global leader of technological products ‘Compal’ for manufacturing servers in India. This association will give a strong impetus to India’s manufacturing competitiveness. We are ecstatic and encouraged by the trust they have reposed on Kalyani group for the proposed association.”
Kalyani Powertrain’s electronics division launched its locally manufactured servers in February 2025 from its facility in Pune, Maharashtra. The manufacturing unit is expected to contribute to the local supply chain and increase domestic production capacity.
Under this partnership both companies aim to strengthen India's AI, cloud computing and data center infrastructure. It is expected to support enterprises, cloud service providers, and government organizations by providing locally manufactured server solutions. The initiative also aligns with efforts to reduce dependency on imports and develop India's domestic electronics sector.
Tony Bonadero, CEO of Compal, stated, "We are very pleased to collaborate with Kalyani Powertrain. Compal is actively advancing its server business and establishing multiple partnerships. Kalyani Powertrain's extensive experience in the Indian market will create synergistic effects in our collaboration. We look forward to this being just the beginning, with more ICT related business opportunities in the future to create greater value together."
