Kia PV7 Electric MPV Debuts Globally with 460+ km Claimed Range

South Korean automaker Kia has globally revealed the PV7 all-electric MPV at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hanover, Germany. The PV7 is the second all-electric MPV from Kia based on the Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) range after the PV5.

Kia has introduced the PV7 in Passenger and Cargo versions, with the latter offering a payload capacity of up to 1,200kg. The Kia PV7 is scheduled to go on sale in South Korea and Europe in the second half of 2027; the automaker hasn’t revealed any India launch plan for the PV7 yet.

The Passenger version of the Kia PV7 is offered with multiple seating configurations and can accommodate up to nine occupants, while the Korean-market version will have seating for up to 11 people. The seven-seat configuration uses removable seats mounted on extended rails. The Long version can also be configured with up to nine seats. Passenger-focused equipment includes separate rear climate controls, storage spaces and 100W USB-C charging ports. The Kia PV7 gets a dashboard with a 14.6-inch central touchscreen and a digital driver display, ambient lighting, an optional centre console that can also function as a table.

The Kia PV7 is based on the company's 800V E-GMP.S architecture. It will be offered with two battery options - 71.5kWh and 96.2kWh.

The PV7 EV uses a front-mounted motor with outputs of up to 200kW and 420Nm of torque. Front-wheel drive will be available initially, while Kia plans to introduce an all-wheel-drive version with a dual-motor setup later.

Kia has only announced the targeted range figure for the PV7 Cargo Long Range, which is expected to cover more than 460km on the WLTP cycle.

The 800V architecture allows the PV7 to support high-speed DC charging. Kia says the battery can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in the mid-20-minute range using a 350kW DC fast charger. The PV7 has been designed with two charging locations. The front charging port supports both AC and DC charging, while an optional rear-side port can be used for AC charging. The PV7 also gets vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality.

The PV7 follows the design theme introduced with the PV5 but gets a larger body to accommodate passengers and cargo. In terms of design the PV7 front gets slim LED headlamps and vertically positioned daytime running lights, with black elements around the bonnet and A-pillars. The Passenger version has a larger glass area, while the Cargo version uses additional bodywork around the side sections. Both versions feature black wheel-arch cladding.

At the rear, the PV7 gets slim wraparound tail-lights. The Passenger model uses a lift-up tailgate, while the Cargo version can be equipped with side-hinged doors.

The PV7 will be equipped with active and passive safety features like 7-airbags including a roof-mounted front passenger airbag, ADAS with features like Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Highway Driving Assist 2.0, Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control, parking sensors, Remote Smart Parking Assist and a Surround View Monitor.

The PV7 Cargo will be offered in Compact, Long and High Roof versions. Depending on the market, it can be configured with two or three seats in the front cabin. The Long version provides up to 6.1 cubic metres of cargo space, while the High Roof version increases the available volume to up to 8.0 cubic metres. Maximum payload capacity is up to 1,200kg, depending on the variant. The PV7 Cargo Long has a loading height of 550mm and can accommodate up to three Euro pallets. Kia will offer different rear-door configurations, including a conventional lift-up tailgate and side-hinged doors. The latter can open wide to provide access to the cargo area in locations where space behind the vehicle is limited. The Cargo version will also get a Heavy Load driving mode, which changes the vehicle's driving responses depending on the payload.
