Mahindra Thar OG Variants Explained: Here’s What Each Trim Offers

Mahindra has launched the Thar OG at an introductory ex-showroom price of Rs 10.32 lakh. The facelifted Thar three-door gets refreshed styling, updated features and a new 1.5-litre diesel engine option.

The Thar OG is available in three variants – AXT, LXT and ZXT. Buyers can choose from two diesel engines and one petrol engine, while both manual and automatic transmission options are available depending on the powertrain. Here is a detailed look at what each variant offers.

The Thar OG is offered with a 1.5-litre diesel engine that produces 117bhp and 300Nm. The larger 2.2-litre diesel engine develops 150bhp and 330Nm, while the 2.0-litre petrol engine produces 174bhp and 300Nm.

A six-speed manual gearbox is standard across the range, while the larger diesel and petrol engines also get the option of a six-speed automatic transmission.

Priced at Rs 10.32 lakh (ex-showroom), the Mahindra Thar OG AXT is the entry-level variant. It is available only with the 1.5-litre diesel engine, paired with a six-speed manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive.

It comes equipped with 18-inch steel wheels, halogen headlamps, LED tail lamps, vinyl seats, height-adjustable driver’s seat, rear USB-C charging ports, rear AC vents, rear demister, second-row armrest with cup holders and a brake locking differential.

The LXT sits in the middle of the Thar OG lineup and adds several convenience and technology features over the AXT. It starts at Rs 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It gets 18-inch alloy wheels, fabric seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

The variant also adds cruise control, front USB-C charging ports, a 10.25-inch infotainment display with phone mirroring, rear parking sensors, power windows.

The LXT is also available with four-wheel drive at Rs 15.60 lakh (ex-showroom). The 4WD version gets additional off-road equipment, including terrain modes, an electronic locking differential, front axle disconnect and a washable floor with drain plugs.

The ZXT is the top-spec variant of the Thar OG. It builds on the LXT with additional exterior, interior and safety features. Priced at Rs 13.99 lakh, the top-end variant gets diamond-cut 19-inch alloy wheels, LED lighting package, leatherette-wrapped steering wheel, leatherette upholstery, front parking sensors, wireless charger, rear-view camera and six airbags.
