Mahindra has introduced the Udo in the L5M electric passenger three-wheeler category. The Udo is built on a full monocoque structure. The design takes cues from aviation, and the name ‘Udo’ is derived from the Hindi word for “to fly”.
Mahindra has equipped the Udo with an 11.7 kWh IP67-rated lithium-ion battery pack which is mated to an electric motor to generate a peak power output of 13.41bhp and 52Nm of torque. Mahindra claims the Udo can deliver a range of up to 200 km on a single charge and it has a top speed of 55 kmph in Race mode.
The Udo, electric auto gets three drive modes - Range, Ride and Race which allows drivers to prioritise efficiency or performance depending on usage. It also features regenerative braking, reverse throttle, hill hold assist and a creep function for low-speed traffic.
Suspension duties are carried out by dual front fork suspension and an independent rear suspension setup. The Udo rides on 12-inch wheels with tubeless tyres and uses drum brakes.
On the inside the driver gets what the company calls a ‘pilot seat’, claimed to be around 20 percent thicker than comparable models. The passenger area is designed to offer additional headroom and legroom.
Mahindra is offering a warranty of six years or 1.5 lakh km, whichever comes earlier, along with free servicing up to 1 lakh km.
Mahindra also revealed that the Udo is manufactured at its Zaheerabad facility in Telangana. This facility has been upgraded with automated battery assembly and robotised production systems.
Suman Mishra, Managing Director and CEO of Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Limited, said, “At Mahindra Last Mile Mobility, our purpose is to electrify the last mile transportation to meaningfully improve lives of customers.
