Baleno Facelift 2026 Launched in India
Maruti Suzuki has updated one of its best-known premium hatchbacks, the Baleno, with a mix of styling changes, new features and a new petrol engine. Prices for the facelifted Baleno start at Rs 6.10 lakh (ex-showroom). The biggest highlight is the addition of a CNG-AMT option, making the Baleno only the second car in its segment after the Tata Altroz to offer this combination.
Key highlights:
Baleno facelift launched at Rs 6.10 lakh (ex-showroom)- Gets new 1.2-litre Z Series three-cylinder petrol engine
- CNG-AMT option introduced for the first time
- New Level 2 ADAS, ventilated seats and TPMS added
Baleno Facelift: Engine
The Baleno facelift gets Maruti Suzuki's 1.2-litre Z Series three-cylinder petrol engine, which is also used in the Swift and Dzire. The engine is offered with a five-speed manual gearbox as well as an AMT. The same engine can also be paired with a factory-fitted CNG kit. For the first time, buyers can choose the Baleno CNG with an AMT gearbox, adding an automatic option to the more fuel-efficient version.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno Facelift: Exterior Design
The facelift brings minor changes to the Baleno's exterior rather than a major redesign. It gets a larger front grille with black horizontal slats, while the headlamps and tail lamps remain unchanged. The bumpers have been lightly revised, with redesigned fog lamp housings. The 16-inch alloy wheels also get a new design, while a shark-fin antenna has been added. The hatchback continues to measure 3,990mm in length, with a 2,520mm wheelbase. A new Enigmatic Teal colour has also been added.
Baleno Facelift: Interior and Features
Inside, the overall dashboard layout remains largely unchanged. It continues to feature a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a semi-digital instrument cluster. New additions include ventilated front seats, a tyre pressure monitoring system, cooled wireless charger, Clarion sound system and Level 2 ADAS-based safety features. Existing equipment includes a height-adjustable driver's seat, wireless charger, head-up display, automatic climate control and a 360-degree camera.
Baleno Facelift: Rivals
The updated Baleno continues to compete in India's premium hatchback segment, taking on the Tata Altroz and Hyundai i20. With the addition of the new engine, ADAS and CNG-AMT option, Maruti Suzuki is looking to keep the Baleno competitive in a segment that has increasingly focused on features and powertrain choices.
