Mercedes-AMG G 63 Offroad Pro Limited-Edition SUV Launched in India at Rs 3.80 Crore

The Mercedes-AMG G 63 Offroad Pro is the first variant of the performance SUV to feature the Offroad Pro specification. It continues with the G-Class silhouette and 4.0-litre V8 engine, while adding equipment aimed at improving its capability on challenging terrain.

The AMG G 63 Offroad Pro is powered by a handcrafted 4.0-litre V8 biturbo petrol engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system. The engine produces 585hp and 850Nm of torque, while the integrated starter-generator can provide an additional 15 kW of assistance.

The SUV comes with AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive. It can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 4.4 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 240 kmph. The engine has a displacement of 3,982 cc and uses a V8 configuration.

The biggest change on the Offroad Pro is the AMG Active Ride Control suspension. The system combines active roll stabilisation with AMG's suspension setup and is designed to allow greater axle articulation when driving off-road.

Mercedes-Benz says the system helps maintain ground contact and traction over difficult terrain while also improving comfort over uneven surfaces. The SUV also gets AMG Active Balance Control. It allows the driver to adjust the roll stiffness of the suspension in three stages, depending on the terrain and driving conditions.

Another feature is AMG Traction Pro, available in the Rock and Sand modes, the system manages braking torque at individual wheels to help improve traction. The degree of locking can be adjusted across seven stages.

The new variant retains the familiar G-Class design but gets AMG-specific exterior changes, including flared wheel arches, a revised bumper and a more aggressive front fascia. It is equipped with unique 20-inch AMG five-twin-spoke alloy wheels finished in matte black. The wheels feature a diamond-turned rim flange and are fitted with 275/50 R20 tyres. The Offroad Pro also gets a roof luggage rack with continuous aluminium panels and a removable rear ladder. The setup is designed to accommodate larger luggage and expedition equipment.

Inside, the AMG G 63 Offroad Pro gets Nappa leather upholstery and a customisable ambient lighting system. The SUV features Mercedes-Benz's MBUX NTG7 infotainment system with augmented-reality navigation. The cabin gets a 12.3-inch driver and multimedia displays, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with USB-C ports. A Burmester 3D Surround Sound System with 18 speakers and 760W output is also available.

A new off-road cockpit Provides access to information including vehicle position, compass, altitude, steering angle, tyre pressure and temperature. It also displays the status of the differential locks. The Transparent Hood function is accessible through the off-road menu.

Mercedes-AMG G 63 Offroad Pro: Safety

The Mercedes-AMG G 63 Offroad Pro gets a range of driver assistance and safety features, including Active Brake Assist, Lane Keeping Assist and a 360-degree camera system. The technology package also adds a more comprehensive set of ADAS functions. The SUV also gets additional insulation and acoustic glass as part of its noise and vibration control measures.
