Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB Crosses 30,000 Production Milestone in India

The Indian division of the German luxury automaker Mercedes-Benz has announced that the E-Class LWB has achieved a new production milestone in India. Sharing this update the automaker revealed that the company has achieved a major manufacturing milestone, rolling out its 30,000th locally assembled E-Class Long Wheelbase (LWB) sedan from its plant in Chakan, Pune, Maharashtra.

Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB Production Milestone

India holds a distinct position in Mercedes-Benz’s global network as the only Right-Hand Drive (RHD) market in the world where the long-wheelbase variant of the E-Class is manufactured and sold.
The Mercedes-Benz E-Class is currently the longest continuously running nameplate in the Indian market. At present, the E-Class LWB is also one the best-selling luxury cars in the country. The LWB iteration of the E-Class was first introduced back in 2017 but the E-Class has been in production in India since the mid-1990's.
The new production milestone also highlights India's unique position within Mercedes-Benz's global manufacturing network. The country remains the only right-hand-drive (RHD) market where the E-Class Long Wheelbase is both produced and sold. According to the company, the latest production milestone reflects the capabilities of its Chakan facility and reinforces its commitment to local manufacturing under the 'Make in India' initiative.
The E-Class has been part of Mercedes-Benz India's portfolio for three decades. It was the first luxury passenger car to be locally assembled in India in 1995 with the W124 generation. Since then, more than 57,000 units of the E-Class across different generations have been delivered in the country. The Chakan manufacturing plant currently assembles multiple Mercedes-Benz internal combustion engine (ICE) and battery electric vehicle (BEV) models for the Indian market.
