Mercedes-Benz V-Class to be Relaunched in India Today: Here’s What to Expect

Mercedes-Benz India is all set to reintroduce the new V-Class in India today. This also marks the return of Mercedes-Benz to the luxury MPV segment in the country. The model was previously on sale between 2019 and 2022, and its reintroduction signals the brand’s renewed focus on the growing chauffeur-driven luxury segment.

New Mercedes-Benz V-Class: Expected Design

Mercedes-Benz has positioned the V-Class globally as a chauffeur-oriented luxury vehicle and that theme is expected to continue in India. Internationally, the V-Class is offered with multiple seating options, including seven-seat and eight-seat configurations, along with a six-seat setup featuring individual captain chairs in the middle row.
Higher-spec versions abroad get electrically adjustable rear seats with ventilation and massage functions, extending leg support, reclining backrests, tray tables and dedicated charging points. Mercedes-Benz has described the V-Class as a “private suite on wheels”, indicating that rear-seat experience will be central to the India-spec model as well.
Globally, the V-Class is available in Long (3,200mm wheelbase) and Extra Long (3,430mm wheelbase) versions. The India-bound model is expected to be based on the long-wheelbase configuration to maximise cabin space, though final specifications will be confirmed at launch.
The design follows the updated 2023 global facelift, featuring a revised front grille, updated headlamps and a clean rear profile, while retaining the MPV form factor.

Mercedes-Benz V-Class: Expected Features

The global versions of the V-Class come equipped with twin 12.3-inch displays for the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system. Other features offered overseas include wireless charging, multi-beam LED headlamps, air suspension and a suite of driver assistance systems.
The exact feature list for India will be announced later today, but a high level of equipment is expected given the segment positioning.

Mercedes-Benz V-Class: Expected Powertrain

The V-Class is expected to be powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine. In global markets, this engine is available in two states of tune - the 220d producing 163bhp and 380Nm of torque, and the 300d delivering 237bhp and 500Nm of torque. Both are paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission.

Mercedes-Benz V-Class: Expected Price & Rivals

Mercedes-Benz will be announcing the pricing for the new V-Class today and it is expected to be introduced in a price range of Rs 1 Crore to Rs 1.7 crore (ex-showroom), depending on the variant introduced. Once launched, the V-Class will rival the Toyota Vellfire, Lexus LM and the electric MG M9.
