MG Hector Hawk India Launch on August 26: Expected Price, Powertrain and More

JSW MG Motor India is gearing up to introduce its next big SUV, the Hector Hawk, in the Indian market on August 26. The upcoming model will be the first vehicle to use the company's new ADAPT platform, which has been developed to support multiple electrified powertrains, including EVs, plug-in hybrids, strong hybrids and range-extender systems.

The Hector Hawk will initially be available in electric and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions. The SUV is based on the Wuling Starlight 560 sold in international markets and is expected to offer a larger, more premium package than the existing Hector.
MG Hector Hawk: EV Powertrain
The electric version of the Hector Hawk is expected to use a 69.2kWh battery pack paired with a front-mounted electric motor. International specifications suggest the motor could produce around 199-203bhp and 310 Nm of torque.
The EV could offer a claimed CLTC range of around 530 km on a single charge. However, the India-spec range and battery specifications are yet to be confirmed by MG.
MG Hector Hawk PHEV: Engine and Electric Range
The plug-in hybrid version is expected to combine a 1.5-litre petrol engine with a 20.5kWh battery pack. The combined system output is likely to be around 192-194 hp, while torque could stand at approximately 230 Nm.
The PHEV is also expected to offer an electric-only range of around 125 km, allowing owners to cover shorter daily commutes without using the petrol engine.
First Model Based on MG's ADAPT Platform
The Hector Hawk will mark the debut of MG's ADAPT architecture in India. The platform has been designed to accommodate different types of electrified powertrains, allowing MG to introduce EVs, PHEVs, strong hybrids and range-extender models without developing completely separate platforms.
For now, however, MG is expected to focus on the EV and PHEV versions of the Hector Hawk.
MG Hector Hawk: Dimensions and Expected Features
The upcoming SUV is expected to measure around 4,700-4,750 mm in length, with a wheelbase of approximately 2,800 mm. This should give it a three-row, seven-seat layout and position it above the current Hector in MG's SUV range.
In terms of features, the Hector Hawk is expected to get a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof and ventilated front seats.
Safety equipment is also expected to include an ADAS suite and six airbags as standard, although the final India-spec equipment list will be confirmed at launch.
MG Hector Hawk: Expected Price and Rivals
The MG Hector Hawk is expected to be priced from around Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom). If this estimate holds, the upcoming SUV could target different rivals depending on the powertrain.
The electric version could take on models such as the Mahindra XEV 9S, while the PHEV could compete with SUVs such as the Mahindra XUV 7XO and Tata Safari.
MG will officially reveal the Hector Hawk's India-spec details on August 26. While the EV and PHEV powertrain specifications mentioned above are based on the Wuling Starlight 560's international specifications and pre-launch reports, the final figures for India could be different.
More details about the SUV's price, battery capacity, range, features and variants are expected to be announced at the launch.
