MG Hector Tomahawk EV Launched in India: Top 5 Highlights
JSW MG Motor India has launched the Hector Tomahawk EV in India at a starting price of Rs 19.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The electric SUV is the first MG model in India to use the brand’s ADAPT platform. It is offered in both five- and seven-seat configurations and gets a 69.2kWh battery pack. Here are the top five highlights of the newly launched EV from MG.
1. Price Starts at Rs 19.49 Lakh, BaaS Option Available
The MG Hector Tomahawk EV is priced between Rs 19.49 lakh and Rs 23.49 lakh (ex-showroom). MG is also offering the electric SUV under its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) programme, with prices starting at Rs 13.99 lakh. Customers opting for BaaS will have to pay a separate battery rental of Rs 4.90 per km. The five-seat version is available only in the top-spec Essence trim and costs Rs 22.99 lakh. The seven-seat model is offered in Excite, Exclusive and Essence variants.
2. 69.2kWh Battery Offers 517km Range
The Hector Tomahawk EV comes with a 69.2kWh battery paired with a permanent-magnet synchronous motor. The motor produces 150kW, equivalent to around 207bhp, and 310Nm of torque.
MG claims an MIDC range of 517km, while the SUV can accelerate from 0-100km/h in a claimed 8.2 seconds. It supports DC fast charging at up to 90kW, with a 30-80 percent charge taking around 35 minutes. A 7.4kW AC charger takes around 12.5 hours to charge the battery from 10-100 percent.
3. Available in Five- and Seven-Seat Layouts
One of the key highlights of the Hector Tomahawk EV is its choice of seating configurations. The SUV is available with both five- and seven-seat layouts, making the three-row version a rival to electric SUVs such as the Mahindra XEV 9S and Kia Carens Clavis EV.
The five-seat version offers 610 litres of boot space, which expands to 1,053 litres with the second row folded. The seven-seat version provides 192 litres with all three rows in use, increasing to 528 litres when the third row is folded.
4. Gets A Feature-Rich Cabin
Inside, the Hector Tomahawk EV gets a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system and an 8.8-inch digital driver’s display. Other features include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, gesture controls, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats and 256-colour ambient lighting.
The SUV also gets a 10-speaker Infinity sound system, rear window sunshades and a memory function for the driver’s seat. MG has added dedicated cabin modes such as Nap, Camp, Energise, Pro Pet, Valet and Quiet modes.
5. 230mm Ground Clearance, V2L and V2V Functions
The Hector Tomahawk EV measures 4,745mm in length, 1,850mm in width and 1,770mm in height, with a 2,810mm wheelbase. It gets 230mm of ground clearance, along with 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, roof rails, black body cladding and an electrically operated tailgate.
The EV also supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) functions. V2L allows the battery to power compatible external electrical devices, while V2V can be used to transfer charge to another electric vehicle.
