New-Generation Lexus ES India Launch on March 20: Expected Price, Powertrain, Features and More
Lexus India, the luxury vehicle division of Japanese automaker Toyota, has announced that it will introduce the new-generation ES luxury sedan in the country on March 20th 2026. The new model introduces changes to exterior design, interior layout and onboard technology. However, the new-generation ES continues to use the TNGA-K platform.
The Lexus ES remains the brand’s entry-level sedan in India and will continue to be assembled locally. In the entry-level luxury sedan segment the Lexus ES competes with the likes of Mercedes-Benz C-Class, BMW 3 Series Long Wheelbase, Audi A4 and others. On the plus side the ES is well-respected for punching above its weight and the new model should be no exception.
New-Gen Lexus ES: Expected Design
The new ES adopts a revised exterior design compared to the current model. The traditional spindle grille has been replaced with a cleaner front fascia featuring a compact air intake at the lower section of the bumper.
The front lighting setup includes Z-shaped LED daytime running lights that integrate the indicators. The primary headlamp units are positioned lower and are partly concealed behind vertical gloss-black trim pieces. Diamond-pattern inserts have been added to the bumper area.
In profile, the sedan gets a sloping roofline and a pronounced shoulder line running across the body. Gloss-black trim highlights the crease line, while new alloy wheel designs have been introduced for the updated model.
At the rear, the ES features a full-width LED light bar with illuminated “LEXUS” lettering. L-shaped sculpted elements with chrome detailing are positioned below the light bar.
The sedan has also grown in size compared to the outgoing model, with increases in overall length, width and wheelbase.
New-Gen Lexus ES: Expected Features
On the inside the new-gen ES is expected to sport a simplified dashboard layout with fewer physical buttons. It is expected to get a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system with over-the-air (OTA) updates and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Other expected features include a Mark Levinson audio system, three-zone climate control, reclining rear seats with a boss mode function, powered front seats with memory settings and a panoramic glass roof with electrochromic function.
New-Gen Lexus ES: Expected Powertrain
For India, the new ES is expected to continue with a hybrid powertrain similar to the current Lexus ES 300h. The system combines a 2.5L petrol engine with an electric motor and sends power to the front wheels through an e-CVT transmission. The existing ES 300h produces a combined output of around 198 bhp, and the updated model is likely to retain a similar configuration at launch.
Globally, the ES lineup now also includes additional hybrid versions as well as fully electric variants. However, these powertrains are not expected to be introduced in India at the initial stage.
New-Gen Lexus ES: Expected Price
The current ES is priced from Rs 62.65 lakh (ex-showroom) and Lexus is expected to introduce the new-gen ES sedan in the Indian market with an expected starting price of Rs 64.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
