Next-Gen Nissan Skyline to Debut in December 2026: V6 Hybrid Powertrain on the Cards?

Japanese automaker Nissan has recently confirmed that the next-generation Skyline will make its global debut in December 2026. The upcoming sedan will mark the 14th generation of the Skyline nameplate and is expected to continue with an internal combustion engine, while multiple media reports also hint at an V6 hybrid powertrain.

Nissan CEO Ivan Espinosa confirmed the December 2026 debut of the next-gen Skyline during an interview with Japanese publication Asahi Shimbun. The new Skyline is also expected to be one of the first models developed under Nissan's revised vehicle development process, which aims to reduce development timelines.

The upcoming Nissan Skyline is expected to sport a four-door sedan body style. Nissan has already released teaser images of the next-generation model, showing design elements inspired by previous generations of the Skyline.

The teaser images shared by the automaker feature a new interpretation of the Skyline emblem, along with a sculpted front end and circular rear lighting elements. Nissan is expected to combine these traditional design cues with a new exterior and interior package for the next-generation model.

Nissan has shared that the new Skyline will be powered by an internal combustion engine. However, the automaker has not yet confirmed the engine specifications or performance figures.

Multiple media reports indicate that the new Skyline could be equipped with a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine. The same engine is already on offer with the Nissan Z. There are also speculations online hinting at a hybrid powertrain consisting of the V6 engine and additional electric assistance. Let us remind you once again that these are just speculations and Nissan has not officially confirmed the powertrain yet. Reports surrounding the next-generation Skyline have also pointed towards the possibility of a manual gearbox.
