Royal Enfield has temporarily paused the bookings for the Himalayan 440 in India after demand for the adventure motorcycle exceeded the company’s initial production plans. The bookings have already covered around six months of planned production, prompting the company to stop accepting new orders and focus on delivering motorcycles to existing customers.
Royal Enfield launched the Himalayan 440 in India on September 2nd 2026 with a price tag of Rs 2.29 lakh (ex-showroom). The automaker is now working towards ramping up its production capacity for the motorcycle to meet the strong demand. Bookings for the same will reopen once production capacity is increased, however the company has not announced a timeline yet.
The company will prioritise customers who have already placed their orders while it works on increasing production. Royal Enfield is expected to announce when bookings resume at a later date.
Royal Enfield Himalayan 440: Engine
The Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 houses a 443cc, single-cylinder, air/oil-cooled petrol engine that produces 25.4bhp and 34Nm of torque, this engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
Royal Enfield Himalayan 440: Design & Features
The Himalayan 440 uses design elements inspired by the original Himalayan 411, while adopting the newer 443cc powertrain. It has been positioned below the Himalayan 450 in Royal Enfield’s adventure motorcycle line-up.
The Himalayan 440 gets a semi-digital instrument console, familiar Himalayan design, USB Type-C charging, tripper navigation pod, LED headlamp, spoke wheels with tube-type tyres and more.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 is priced at Rs 2.29 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. The Himalayan 440 rivals the likes of KTM 390 Adventure, Royal Enfield Scram 440, Yezdi Adventure and other adventure motorcycles in the domestic market.
