Suzuki Hayabusa, V-Strom 800DE and GSX-8R Get Costlier After GST Hike
Suzuki Motorcycle India has increased the prices of its motorcycles over 350cc due to the revised Goods and Services Tax, which raised the GST rate from 28% to 40%. Consequently, the Suzuki Hayabusa now costs Rs 18.06 lakh, while the V-Strom 800DE and GSX-8R have seen price hikes to Rs 11.01 lakh and Rs 9.89 lakh, respectively. Suzuki Motorcycle India has revised prices across its big bike lineup implementation of the revised Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates for motorcycles above 350cc. Under the new taxation structure the GST levied on motorcycles above 350cc has been increased from 28 percent to 40 per cent. As a result Suzuki two-wheeler division has increased the prices of its products, over 350cc in the Indian market.

Following the revision of these tax rates the Suzuki Hayabusa now costs Rs 18.06 lakh, which is an increase of Rs 1.16 lakh over the earlier Rs 16.90 lakh tag. The V-Strom 800DE has moved from Rs 10.30 lakh to Rs 11.01 lakh, up by around Rs 71,000. The GSX-8R is now listed at Rs 9.89 lakh, a hike of about Rs 64,000 from its previous Rs 9.25 lakh price (all prices referred here are ex-showroom).
No changes have been made to the motorcycles apart from the revised tax-led pricing. All three models were updated earlier this year for OBD-2B compliance and new paint schemes.
The Hayabusa continues to be offered with a 1,340cc inline 4-cylinder engine which produces around 187 to 190 bhp and up to 150 Nm of torque, while the GSX-8R and V-Strom 800DE share the 776cc parallel-twin motor that generates a peak power output of up to 82 bhp and 78 Nm.
While these three models have become more expensive under the revised GST slab, Suzuki’s sub-350cc motorcycles and scooters have undergone a price reduction of up to Rs 18,024.
