The Tata Sierra, reintroduced in a new-generation format, is positioned as a compact SUV in the company’s expanding SUV portfolio. Deliveries for the Sierra have been underway across major metropolitan markets as well as Tier-II cities, contributing to the cumulative 10,000 unit figure.
The Sierra is available with multiple powertrain options, including naturally aspirated petrol engine, turbocharged petrol engine and turbocharged diesel engine. All three engines have 1.5L cubic capacity. This strategy allows the manufacturer to cater to a larger audience in the segment.
In terms of design, the Sierra carries forward references of the OG Sierra, including the signature rear-side glass treatment, while incorporating updated LED lighting elements and a contemporary front fascia. The cabin layout includes a dual digital display setup, connected car features, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and a panoramic sunroof in select trims.
The 10,000-unit delivery milestone comes at a time when competition in the mid-size SUV space remains intense. The subcompact SUV segment in India is quite competitive with the presence of well-established products like - Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and others.
