This makes the FJ Series a more compact and entry-level option.

Unlike the more luxurious Land Cruiser 300, the FJ Series is marketed as an entry-level model, focusing on affordability and practicality. The Land Cruiser Prado has recently been updated with a 48V mild hybrid system that enhances its off-road capabilities while maintaining the existing diesel engine performance. This system includes an electric motor-generator and a lithium-ion battery, which assist during acceleration and improve fuel efficiency. Such advancements indicate Toyota's commitment to integrating hybrid technology across its SUV lineup, enhancing both performance and eco-friendliness.
While the Land Cruiser FJ Series maintains a part-time four-wheel drive system, the Land Cruiser 300 is equipped with advanced off-road technologies, including Multi-Terrain Select and a more robust AWD Integrated Management system. The FJ Series is designed for lighter off-road use, while the LC 300 is built for extreme conditions, featuring a TNGA-F platform and off-road-tuned suspension for better handling in challenging terrains.
The Land Cruiser FJ Series is set to launch in Japan in mid-2026, following its global unveiling at the Japan Mobility Show in late 2025. Meanwhile, the updated Land Cruiser Prado with a 48V hybrid system is expected to commence bookings soon, with deliveries planned for late 2025. This staggered launch strategy highlights Toyota's focus on expanding its SUV offerings in the global market.
