Ultraviolette Automotive has announced plans to establish its BIGGA (Big Global Ambition) facility in Hosur. This new manufacturing facility will operate alongside the company's existing plant in Bengaluru. This factory is being developed to support its upcoming product range and international expansion. The facility has also been designed for flexibility, allowing production of future models to be progressively added.

Ultraviolette BIGGA Factory: Production Capacity

The Ultraviolette BIGGA factory will be commissioned with a phased production ramp-up. Ultraviolette plans to take annual manufacturing capacity to 2,50,000 vehicles, while the facility has been designed with the infrastructure required to scale this figure to 5,00,000 units per year as demand increases.
The Tesseract electric scooter will be one of the primary products manufactured at the new facility. The plant will also cater to Ultraviolette's future lineup, which is expected to include motorcycles across the Sports, Crossover, Cruiser and Street segments, apart from scooters.
The new factory will be located within Hosur's established automotive manufacturing ecosystem. Its proximity to Bengaluru, Ultraviolette's R&D operations and its existing supplier network is expected to support manufacturing and supply-chain operations. Meanwhile, Ultraviolette's existing manufacturing facility in Bengaluru will continue its operations even after the Hosur plant becomes operational.

Ultraviolette BIGGA Factory: Technology

Ultraviolette says the BIGGA facility will use Industry 4.0 manufacturing systems, advanced automation and digital quality systems. A Manufacturing Execution System (MES) will be used for real-time production tracking and traceability. The facility will also incorporate digital lean manufacturing and digital quality systems across its operations.
Automation will include collaborative robots for sorting, welding and assembly. The plant will also use automated assembly fool-proofing and vision-based inspection systems across selected manufacturing processes. A dedicated test track will form part of the facility, allowing vehicles to undergo testing before they are dispatched.

Ultraviolette's International Expansion

The manufacturing expansion comes as Ultraviolette continues to build its presence outside India. The company currently exports its motorcycles to 19 European countries, including Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, the UK, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy and Switzerland.
The BIGGA Factory will therefore provide additional manufacturing capacity for both the Indian and international markets. Ultraviolette says the facility is intended to support its objective of developing EV technology and manufacturing products in India for customers in global markets.

Official Statement

Narayan Subramaniam, Co-founder & CEO, Ultraviolette, commented on the announcement, “Over the last few years, we have built our foundation around technology, performance and product innovation; the next phase is about building the scale to take that foundation much further. The BIGGA Factory is a significant step in that direction, giving us the manufacturing capacity and infrastructure to scale Tesseract and our future products, while creating the ability to serve a much larger customer base in India and international markets.”
Niraj Rajmohan, Co-founder & CTO, Ultraviolette said, “Hosur is a key manufacturing hub with a well-established automotive ecosystem, significant supply-chain advantages and close proximity to Ultraviolette’s R&D operations and existing supplier network. The BIGGA Factory will further strengthen our ability to innovate and contribute to India’s emergence as a global hub for electric-vehicle technology and manufacturing.”
