Volkswagen Tayron R-Line Details Revealed Ahead of India Launch

The Indian division of the German automaker Volkswagen has today revealed key design and interior details of its upcoming flagship SUV, the Tayron R-Line ahead of its launch in India. The Tayron R-Line is a seven-seater SUV which is expected to be positioned at the top of Volkswagen’s India lineup, slotted above the Tiguan R-Line.

The information shared by the company highlights that the Tayron R-Line is arriving in India around 12 months after its debut in Europe. The company also highlighted that the Tayron R-Line has already been awarded the five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP.

On the outside, the Tayron R-Line follows Volkswagen’s latest SUV design direction. It features illuminated front and rear light signatures, a wide stance, and a long wheelbase of 2,789 mm. The SUV will be offered with 19-inch Coventry alloy wheels. Volkswagen states that the proportions and design elements are aimed at establishing the Tayron as its flagship offering in India.

On the inside, the Tayron R-Line gets a cabin layout focused on space and digital interfaces. The company states that the dashboard adopts a horizontal design to emphasise width, while a floating 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system which is angled towards the driver, serves as the primary control interface. Volkswagen has positioned the Tayron as a full seven-seater, with seating spread across three rows.

The information shared by the company states that the Tayron R-Line will come equipped with front seats with ergoActive Plus seating, which includes Varenna leather upholstery, 10-point pressure massage and active ventilation. Volkswagen states that the long wheelbase allows for usable space in all three rows. With the third row folded, the Tayron R-Line offers up to 850 litres of boot capacity. A panoramic sunroof is also included to improve cabin light and visibility for rear occupants.

Volkswagen India has confirmed that the Tayron R-Line will serve as its new flagship SUV, joining the brand’s existing line-up that includes the Taigun, Virtus, Tiguan R-Line and Golf GTI. Further details related to powertrain options, pricing and launch timelines are expected closer to the official introduction.
