Bentley Motors Celebrates New Milestone With The Progress Of The New Design Centre
Bentley Motors has completed the structural phase of its new Design Centre. The topping out ceremony was attended by Chairman and CEO Frank-Steffen Walliser, along with Board Members Andreas Lehe and Matthias Rabe.
The new Design Centre will be finished next year and is housed in one of Bentley's oldest buildings, known as the 'Front of House,' dating back to 1939. The updated design was created by Bentley's internal team. This building has hosted various visitors, including Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Commenting on the occasion Matthias Rabe said, “We are currently in the middle of a design revolution that will help define a new chapter for Bentley design, as part of our Beyond100 transformational journey. Therefore building an innovative, creative environment for our designers to drive the development of future BEV models and more extraordinary products is key to our aim of becoming the world’s leading sustainable luxury mobility company.”
When finished, the new space will be twice the size of the previous Design Centre and will host about 50 designers focusing on exterior, interior, and colour and trim design. This expansion is part of Bentley's Beyond100 strategy, which aims to transition to a fully electrified product range.
The Design Centre project is included in Bentley's £2.5 billion investment plan for future products and the Pyms Lane factory in Crewe.
Andreas Lehe summed it up by adding, “Modernising our site not only gives a clear commitment to a long-term future in Crewe, however also shows our ambition that to continue to invest in state-of-the-art buildings will help establish a benchmark position in truly digital, innovative, highly-flexible luxury car development and manufacture.”
