Jaguar Land Rover Recalls Over 7,200 SUVs Over Seat Belt Defect
Jaguar Land Rover North America has issued a voluntary recall for 7,276 units of the 2025 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport due to a potential defect in the second-row center seat belt buckle. The issue, caused by improper manufacturing, may prevent the seat belt from latching correctly, increasing the risk of injury in a crash. Affected vehicles will have the faulty component replaced at no cost to owners.

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) North America has announced a voluntary safety recall affecting 7,276 units of 2025 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models due to a seat belt defect that were produced between December 19, 2024, and February 19, 2025, at the Solihull Vehicle Assembly Plant.
The affected models include
- 2,721 units of the Land Rover Range Rover
- 4,555 units of the Land Rover Range Rover Sport
According to the report filled by JLR to NHTSA said, on certain Range Rover and Range Rover Sport vehicles, the second-row center seat belt buckle may be manufactured away from specification. One of the jigs used at the buckle supplier did not secure the buckle’s internal cable in the correct location during a riveting process. The incorrectly located internal cable can provide an obstruction to the seat belt tongue and prevent correct latching. The tongue may appear secure when correct latching has not occurred.
Buckles made away from specification do not meet the required performance to comply with specific safety regulations. In the event of a crash, an insecurely latched seat belt buckle could increase the risk of personal injury.
The defect was first reported by the supplier during end-of-line testing on February 25, 2025. Following an internal investigation, JLR determined that the issue was widespread across specific production batches. The company’s Recall Determination Committee classified the problem as a non-compliance defect on March 6, 2025, leading to the recall announcement.
To deal with the issue, JLR will replace the defective seat belt buckle and retaining bolt free of charge. Since the affected vehicles are under warranty, reimbursement for prior repairs is not required.
