South Korean automaker Hyundai has dropped the first official teasers of the upcoming Ioniq 6 N, its next all-electric performance sedan under the N sub-brand. The global debut is confirmed for July at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where Hyundai plans to showcase the car publicly for the first time. More details will be made official during the unveiling at Goodwood in July. Until then, the teasers are all we have, but they suggest Hyundai’s not easing off on its push into high-performance EV territory.

Hyundai Ioniq 6 N Teaser

The teaser images show the Ioniq 6 N in partial silhouette, but a few things are clear. There’s a prominent fixed rear wing, a ducktail-style spoiler integrated into the boot, and wider fenders. The wheels look lighter, and the tyres appear to be performance-spec. One image even shows the car laying down a set of burnout marks, pointing towards a setup aimed at enthusiasts who want a bit more than quiet city runs from their EV.

Design

Design-wise, the Ioniq 6 N builds on the standard Ioniq 6’s pixelated lighting layout. New additions include pixel-style elements on the trunklid, and revised aerodynamic components to aid downforce and stability at higher speeds.

Expected Powertrain

While there’s no official word on output yet, it’s expected that the Ioniq 6 N will carry over the same dual-motor, all-wheel-drive layout from the Ioniq 5 N. That system pushes out up to 641 bhp in boost mode. If Hyundai sticks with that hardware, the Ioniq 6 N will be right up there with electric performance sedans like the BMW i4 M50 and Tesla Model 3 Performance.
Internally, Hyundai has packaged the N series performance under three themes: Corner Rascal, Racetrack Capability and Everyday Sports Car. It’s marketing shorthand, but the intent is straightforward; Hyundai wants to offer a car that can hold its own on track days, handle daily commutes and deliver precision handling in between.
