Hyundai Offers Complimentary NACS Adapters for Enhanced EV Charging Access In US
Hyundai recently announced that starting from the first quarter of 2025, new and current Hyundai EV owners who bought or leased their vehicles before or on Janaury 31, 2025 would be eligible to request for a NACS adapter (shipping included) free of cost through the MyHyundai owner portal. Additionally, the authorised adapter from the South Korean automaker will give CCS-port-equipped Hyundai EV which will allow EV owners to access more than 20,000 Tesla Superchargers in the United States.
Moreover, free adapters will be available to eligible owners of the models including 2025 IONIQ 6, 2025 IONIQ 5 N and 2025 KONA Electric and 2024 models of KONA Electric, IONIQ Hatchback, IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6
This comes on the back of Hyundai India’s initiative to set up nearly 600 public EV fast charging stations across the country in the next 7 years. The company will have a network of 50 fast public charging stations by the end of December 2024.
To date, HMIL's charging network has facilitated approximately 50,000 charging sessions, dispensing over 7.30 lakh units of energy to more than 10,000 Hyundai and non-Hyundai EV customers. Additionally, HMIL has signed an MoU with the Tamil Nadu government to set up 100 EV charging stations across the state by 2027, promoting and accelerating the early adoption of green mobility in the state.
“To accelerate EV adoption, we started by listening to our current owners. These adapters will make DC fast-charging more convenient for current owners. Plus, the NACS port on new models like the upcoming IONIQ 9 along with improvements to our digital charging ecosystem, will further enhance the customer experience for future EV drivers. Our goal is to make the transition to electric seamless,” said Olabisi Boyle, senior vice president, product planning and mobility strategy, Hyundai Motor North America.
