JLR Appoints 50 Experts To Strengthen Supply Chain For Electric Vehicle Production

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has appointed 50 specialists to monitor supply chains linked to its electric vehicle plans. The company is working toward producing electric models across all its brands by 2030.
The new roles involve collecting data on material sources and parts used in production. This will help the company detect risks and respond to supply disruptions.
Jaspal Gill, Supply Chain Mapping and Transparency Manager, JLR, said, "In my previous role in JLR's Industrial Operations, I collaborated with suppliers to support the seamless operation of our production lines. In my new role, I work to identify the true source of our parts so we can secure continual supply and uphold the highest supply chain standards. Since joining I’ve trained new team members who bring their own experiences from around the business and a strong willingness to learn new skills and embrace new challenges."

Tracking of Raw Materials

The specialists will focus on materials such as lithium, cobalt, nickel, manganese, and rare earth elements. These are used in battery production and are sourced from different regions across the world.

Use of Digital Tools and External Support

JLR is using systems such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and real-time analytics to support this work. The company is also working with external partners to carry out checks at material sourcing locations, including mine sites.

Training on Supply Chain Issues

In addition to hiring specialists, JLR has trained over 20,000 employees in areas such as export laws and supply chain risks. This is part of an ongoing £20 million yearly investment in staff training.
Ama Agyewaa Sappor, Supply Chain Mapping and Transparency Manager, said, "I chose to commit my skills to JLR because of its commitment to people and planet; not just profits. Having grown up in Africa, I am passionate about our upstream impact, including ethical sourcing and sustainable end‑to‑end supply chain operations. It all starts with visibility, and that’s what my team brings to the table, contributing directly to JLR’s efforts to be a truly global citizen."
