Additionally, the American-built electric vehicle, Lucid Air Grand Tour beats the previous holder of the record by covering an extra of 160 km on a single charge. The previous record was held by a Mercedes-Benz EQS450+ in June earlier this year, covering a distance of 1,045 km.
The Lucid Air Grand Tour is powered by two electric motors producing 819.3 bhp and 1,200 Nm of torque. Furthermore, the Lucid Air Grand Touring accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 3 seconds with a range of 823 km. Powered by a 117-kWh nickel manganese battery (NMC), it supports DC fast charging up to 300 kW, while slower AC charging is capped at 19.2 kW.
The achievement came as a result of a collaboration between Lucid and Umit Sabanci, a London-based entrepreneur with a passion for setting and breaking world records in electric vehicles. Recently, he set the record for most countries visited on a single charge in a production battery-electric vehicle. In that effort, he crossed nine countries, also in a Lucid Air Grand Touring.
“This range record represents a significant milestone – it’s yet another clear demonstration of the technological edge that defines Lucid. Our Lucid products combine world class vehicle efficiency with the most advanced drive units, ultra-high voltage architecture, and battery management technology available today, which lets a Lucid travel further with less energy than any other vehicles,” said Eric Bach, Senior Vice President of Product and Chief Engineer, Lucid.
