NueGo Adds ADAS To Entire Electric Bus Fleet Ahead Of Regulatory Push

GreenCell Mobility’s NueGo has implemented Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) across its intercity electric bus fleet, making it one of the first such operators in India to do so. The move comes ahead of expected government regulations for safety features in commercial vehicles.

NueGo Adds ADAS To Entire Electric Bus Fleet Ahead Of Regulatory Push

GreenCell Mobility’s intercity electric bus service, known as NueGo, announced that they have integrated Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) to its entire fleet of 275 electric buses. NueGo has deployed ADAS in all its buses since the day started operating in 2022, marking an early adoption of safety systems that may soon be mandated by policy.
Devndra Chawla, MD & CEO of GreenCell Mobility, commented, “At NueGo, guest safety is deeply embedded in our DNA. We were among the first in the industry to integrate Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) across our entire fleet — setting a new benchmark for intercity travel. Our unwavering commitment is to deliver a journey that is comfortable, sustainable and above all, exceptionally safe”
ADAS technology includes tools such as collision warnings, lane departure alerts and automatic emergency braking. These systems are designed to support drivers and reduce the risk of accidents, especially in long-distance travel scenarios.

Key Safety Features Installed

NueGo's fleet-wide integration of ADAS includes multiple safety components, such as:
  • Automated Emergency Braking (AEB): Automatically applies brakes in certain conditions to avoid or reduce the impact of a collision.
  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC): Helps maintain vehicle control in slippery or emergency conditions.
  • Driver Drowsiness Detection: Monitors signs of fatigue and alerts the driver when needed.

Additional Safety Measures In Operation

  • Breath Analyzer Tests
  • Gender-Based Seating
  • Live GPS Tracking
  • AI Driver Monitoring
  • Staff Training
  • Women's Helpline Number
  • Onboard CCTV
  • Mid-Route Stops
  • Central Command Centre

Moves Ahead of Government Regulations

The government is expected to implement new safety regulations for heavy commercial vehicles in the near future. NueGo’s current deployment of ADAS places it in advance of those upcoming rules. The company states that it plans to continue adding such systems to ensure operational oversight and passenger security.
