Toyota Unveils FT-Me

Toyota Motor Europe (TME) has unveiled the FT-Me, a battery electric vehicle concept designed for city mobility. The announcement was made in Brussels on March 12, 2025. The FT-Me is a two-seater, measuring under 2.5 meters in length, designed to occupy minimal parking space and improve maneuverability in urban areas.

Design and Accessibility

The FT-Me has a small footprint, allowing it to fit into half a regular parking space. In areas with perpendicular parking, it can occupy less space. It is designed for a range of users, including those with entry-level driving licenses. In some markets, individuals as young as 14 years old may be eligible to drive it.
The vehicle features a steering system that enables operation through hand controls, making it usable for wheelchair users without modifications. It also includes a digital interface that allows keyless entry and smartphone integration.

Energy Use and Solar Charging

Toyota has incorporated an electric powertrain in the FT-Me, which is designed to consume less energy than other battery electric vehicles. The vehicle has a solar panel roof that can add between 20 to 30 km of range per day, depending on weather conditions. In some cases, users may not need to charge the vehicle through external power sources.

Sustainability and Urban Transport

The FT-Me is built with a focus on recyclability, with Toyota aiming to reduce its carbon footprint compared to city cars. It supports the company’s approach to urban transport.
The concept aligns with Toyota’s work in micromobility, following its experience in providing transportation solutions for events such as the Tokyo 2021 and Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The FT-Me is positioned as a transport option for city landscapes, offering mobility for individuals and businesses.
