VW ID.UNYX Electric SUV Debuts In China
Volkswagen has launched the ID.UNYX, an electric SUV coupe, designed with a customizable 3D avatar in its human-machine interface. With a driving range of over 600 km, it targets young urban consumers in China and will be supported by 40 stores in 20 cities. The company plans to expand the ID.UNYX lineup with four more models by 2026, as part of its broader strategy to introduce 34 new models in China by 2030. The vehicle is produced at one of Volkswagen's electric vehicle plants and features a 210 kW electric motor and a 77 kWh battery pack.

Electric SUV VW ID.UNYX Debuts In China
Volkswagen has introduced the ID.UNYX, an electric SUV coupe, as part of its 'In China, for China' strategy. This model features a new human-machine interface (HMI) with a customizable 3D avatar and offers a driving range of over 600 kms. The ID. UNYX is part of Volkswagen's efforts to meet the preferences and needs of Chinese consumers with new electric vehicle technologies and designs.
The ID. UNYX is designed to cater to young urban consumers in China. Volkswagen plans to support this launch with 40 stores in 20 cities, utilizing virtual and augmented reality technologies for customer interactions.
According to Stefan Mecha, CEO of Volkswagen Brand China, the ID. UNYX aims to attract young, lifestyle-oriented customers. Volkswagen intends to expand the ID. UNYX lineup with four additional models by 2026, including SUVs and saloons. This expansion is part of Volkswagen's broader plan to introduce 34 new models in China by 2030, enhancing its position in the market through joint ventures and new mobility initiatives.
Developed at Volkswagen's Innovation and Development Center in Hefei, the ID. UNYX is produced at one of the company's electric vehicle plants. The HMI's 3D avatar can be personalized and synced with the vehicle for interactive use.
The design of the ID. UNYX includes a gold-colored Volkswagen badge and lettering, LED matrix headlights, and a rear end with LED tail lights and illuminated strip.
The ID. UNYX is powered by a 210 kW electric motor and a 77 kWh battery pack, achieving a range of up to 621 km under the China Light-Duty Test Cycle. An all-wheel-drive version with a 250 kW output will also be available.
