2027 Kawasaki Versys 1100 Launched in India at Rs 13.89 Lakh: Key Features Explained
Kawasaki has updated its big sport-touring motorcycle range in India with the 2027 Versys 1100, priced at Rs 13.89 lakh (ex-showroom). The motorcycle continues to focus on long-distance road touring, combining a powerful inline-four engine with long-travel suspension, an upright riding position and a wide range of electronic rider aids.
Key Highlights:
- Price: Rs 13.89 lakh (ex-showroom)
- Engine: 1,099 cc inline-four producing 135 PS and 112 Nm
- Fuel tank: 21 litres
- Electronics: Traction control, riding modes, cruise control, cornering ABS and more
Kawasaki Versys 1100: Engine and Performance
The biggest update remains the 1,099 cc liquid-cooled, inline-four engine. It produces 135 PS at 9,000 rpm and 112Nm at 7,600 rpm. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox. The larger engine is designed to offer stronger performance, particularly through the mid-range. Kawasaki's inline-four layout also aims to deliver smooth power delivery, making the Versys 1100 suitable for highway touring as well as faster riding on winding roads.
The Versys 1100 is primarily a road-focused sport-tourer, rather than an off-road adventure motorcycle. It gets 150mm of front suspension travel and 152mm at the rear, along with 17-inch wheels at both ends. The motorcycle features an upright riding position, a well-padded seat and an adjustable windscreen. The windscreen can be adjusted from the rider's seat to provide better wind protection depending on riding conditions.
Kawasaki has equipped the motorcycle with several electronic rider aids. These include three-mode traction control, selectable power modes, ABS, electronic cruise control and Kawasaki Cornering Management Function. The Versys 1100 also gets electronic throttle valves and an IMU-based system that helps manage engine power and braking while cornering. An assist and slipper clutch reduces clutch effort and helps control rear-wheel hop during aggressive downshifts.
The motorcycle comes with a 21-litre fuel tank, which should help reduce the frequency of fuel stops during long highway rides. Cruise control is also available for extended expressway journeys. A handlebar-mounted USB Type-C port is provided for charging devices. Kawasaki also offers panniers and a top box for riders looking to increase luggage capacity for longer tours. Full-LED lighting is used for the headlamp, tail-lamp and indicators.
Kawasaki Versys 1100: Dimensions and Brakes
The Versys 1100 weighs 257 kg in kerb weight, while the seat height stands at 820 mm. It has 150 mm of ground clearance and a 1,520 mm wheelbase. Braking duties are handled by dual 277 mm front discs with four-piston radial-mount monobloc calipers and a 226 mm rear disc. The motorcycle uses a 120/70 ZR17 front tyre and a 180/55 ZR17 rear tyre.
