2027 Mercedes-Benz EQS Sedan Makes Global Debut With 926 Km Range
Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the 2027 EQS sedan, featuring an upgraded electrical architecture and enhanced in-car technology across its variants. Performance improvements include a range of up to 926 km and a two-speed transmission; it also gets the steer-by-wire system.
2027 Mercedes-Benz EQS Sedan Makes Global Debut With 926 Km Range
German luxury automaker, Mercedes-Benz has taken the wraps off the 2027 EQS sedan globally. The 2027 EQS sedan is based on a new electrical architecture; it features a revised powertrain and updated in-car technology. This update applies across the EQS 450+, EQS 500 4Matic and EQS 580 4Matic variants of the EQS sedan. Mercedes-Benz has stated that the global sales of the 2027 EQS sedan is scheduled to commence in the second half of 2026.
2027 Mercedes-Benz EQS Sedan: Platform, Battery & Charging
The latest iteration of the EQS sedan transitions from a 400-volt system to an 800-volt electrical architecture. This change enables DC fast charging speeds of up to 350 kW. According to the company under optimal conditions, the system can add over 300 km of range in around 10 minutes, impressive isn’t it. The battery also supports split charging on 400-volt chargers, allowing charging speeds of up to 175 kW.
Mercedes-Benz has increased the battery capacity of the new EQS sedan to 122 kWh (usable), up from 118 kWh offered in the outgoing model. Even the regenerative braking capability of this car is now rated at up to 385 kW.
2027 Mercedes-Benz EQS Sedan: Range & Performance
The EQS 450+ now offers a company claimed range of up to 926 km, depending on configuration. The overall range across variants is stated to be between 817 km and 926 km.
The power output of the new EQS remains somewhat similar, ranging from 362 bhp in the entry-level version to higher outputs in dual-motor 4Matic variants. The updated model also introduces a two-speed transmission on the rear axle, aimed at improving efficiency at higher speeds while maintaining acceleration at lower speeds. On all-wheel-drive versions, the front motor can decouple when not required to reduce energy consumption.

2027 Mercedes-Benz EQS Sedan: Steer-by-wire
A key addition is the steer-by-wire system, removing the physical link between the steering wheel and the front axle. The setup uses electronic inputs and enables variable steering ratios depending on speed and driving conditions. The system is paired with a yoke-style steering wheel with limited rotation.
Rear-axle steering of up to 10 degrees is also offered. The EQS uses multiple sensors and cameras to support driver assistance systems and adaptive damping, including Car-to-X communication for road condition awareness.
2027 Mercedes-Benz EQS Sedan: Cabin
On the inside, the cabin of the new EQS sedan continues with the MBUX Hyperscreen setup, combining three displays under a single glass panel with a total span of 55 inches. Rear seat passengers now get larger 13.1-inch displays along with dedicated controls.
The 2027 EQS sedan has debuted with the new MB.OS software architecture, replacing the earlier system and enabling faster processing, over-the-air updates, and expanded AI-based features. Additional safety features include rear-seat airbags and heated seatbelts.

2027 Mercedes-Benz EQS Sedan: Design
Exterior updates remain limited. The front gets a revised grille with a backlit star pattern and chrome slats on standard variants, while AMG Line trims feature a different treatment with an illuminated central star. The Digital Light headlamps now incorporate a star-shaped daytime running light signature.
At the rear, the EQS features updated helix-style LED tail lamps and a revised diffuser. Subtle changes to the bonnet and lighting elements contribute to a refreshed appearance without altering the overall silhouette.
Is 2027 EQS Sedan Coming to India?
The Mercedes-Benz EQS is already on sale in India in EQS 580 form. While Mercedes-Benz India hasn't released any official communication yet regarding its arrival, we expect the updated version to be introduced in India soon after its global rollout, by late 2026 around the festive season.
