Ather Konarc to Launch on August 29 with New EL Platform: What to Expect?
Ather Energy is getting ready to enter a more affordable and competitive part of the electric scooter market. The company has confirmed that its upcoming EL-platform-based electric scooter will be called the Ather Konarc and will make its India debut on August 29, 2026, at Ather Community Day 2026.
Key Highlights:
- India launch on August 29, 2026, at Ather Community Day 2026
- First production electric scooter based on Ather's new EL platform
- Expected to be priced between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 1.25 lakh
- Could be offered with a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option
Ather Konarc: Design
Ather has not revealed the complete specifications of the Konarc yet, but the company has released several teasers ahead of its launch. From the images shown so far, the production scooter appears to retain most of the design seen on the EL01 concept unveiled at Ather Community Day 2025.
However, the Konarc gets production-ready changes that make it more suitable for everyday use. The scooter is expected to feature a 14-inch front wheel and 12-inch rear wheel, along with a front disc brake and rear drum brake.
The upcoming electric scooter is also likely to feature a seven-inch TFT instrument console with smartphone connectivity, although Ather is yet to officially confirm these details.
New EL Platform to Spawn More Electric Scooters
The Konarc will be the first production model to use Ather's EL platform. The architecture has been developed as a scalable platform that can support several electric two-wheelers in the future.
According to Ather, the platform can accommodate battery packs ranging from 2kWh to 5kWh. This could allow the company to develop scooters for different customer requirements and price segments while sharing the same underlying architecture.
The platform could therefore play an important role in Ather's plans to expand beyond its existing premium-focused scooter range.
Ather Konarc Expected to Target Mass-Market Buyers
The Konarc is expected to be Ather's entry into the mass-market electric scooter segment. The company is likely to position it below its existing premium offerings, making the upcoming model more accessible to a wider range of buyers.
The electric scooter is expected to be priced in the Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.25 lakh range (ex-showroom). Ather could also introduce a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option, which may reduce the upfront purchase price by separating the battery cost from the scooter.
More details about the Konarc's battery capacity, range, performance, features and variants are expected to be revealed at its launch later this month.
