Bajaj Pulsar N125 Discontinued in India: Here’s Why the Young Streetfighter Failed to Find Buyers
While the model remains available in international markets like Nepal and Colombia, Bajaj has not indicated plans to reintroduce it in India, reflecting the competitive challenges in this segment.
Bajaj Pulsar N125 Discontinued in India: Here’s Why the Young Streetfighter Failed to Find Buyers
Bajaj Auto has quietly discontinued the Pulsar N125 in the Indian market, ending the short run of one of the newest models in the Pulsar lineup. Launched in October 2024, the 125cc streetfighter was introduced as an affordable performance-oriented motorcycle aimed at young riders and first-time buyers.
Key Highlights:
- Bajaj Auto has stopped dealer dispatches of the 125cc streetfighter.
- The Pulsar N125 continues to be sold in overseas markets, including Nepal, Peru, Colombia and Morocco.
- The bike’s slim styling and lack of premium features like a TFT display and ABS made it difficult to compete with rivals such as the Hero Xtreme 125R and Honda CB125 Hornet.
However, less than two years after its launch, the Pulsar N125 has been removed from dealer dispatches due to lower-than-expected demand.
Pulsar N125 Remains on Sale in Global Markets
The discontinuation appears to be limited to India, as the Pulsar N125 continues to be sold in several international markets. The motorcycle is currently available in countries including Nepal, Peru, Colombia and Morocco.
This suggests that Bajaj’s decision is linked to the intense competition in India’s 125cc motorcycle segment rather than the model being discontinued globally.
New Platform and Unique Design Failed to Attract Buyers
The Pulsar N125 was an important product for Bajaj as it introduced an all-new platform, featuring a new engine and chassis. With a kerb weight of just 125kg, the motorcycle was among the lighter options in its segment and was designed to offer a sporty riding experience.
It also brought a fresh styling direction for the Pulsar brand, moving away from the traditional design language seen on previous models. However, the slim and stretched-out appearance did not appeal strongly to Indian buyers.
Rivals such as the Hero Xtreme 125R and Honda CB125 Hornet managed to attract more attention by offering a larger, more aggressive streetfighter-like design despite being in the same segment.
Lack of Premium Features Affected its Appeal
Another factor that may have impacted the Pulsar N125’s sales was its feature list. While the motorcycle offered a lightweight chassis and sporty styling, it missed some premium equipment available on competitors, including features like a TFT display and ABS.
In a segment where buyers are increasingly looking for technology and value, the limited features may have made the Pulsar N125 less attractive compared to newer rivals.
Will Bajaj Bring Back the Pulsar N125?
For now, Bajaj has not confirmed any plans to reintroduce the Pulsar N125 in India. However, the underlying platform could potentially return in the future with updated styling, more features, or changes aimed at better matching customer expectations.
The discontinuation highlights the growing challenge for manufacturers in India’s competitive 125cc segment, where design, features and perceived value play a major role in purchase decisions.
