Ducati Monster V2 India Launch on August 10: To Get Lighter and New 890cc V-Twin Engine
Ducati is gearing up to bring the new Monster V2 to India. The motorcycle was recently spotted in Ducati’s patent filings and the Italian manufacturer is now set to launch the updated roadster in the country on August 10. The new-generation model gets a smaller engine, revised chassis and lower kerb weight, while retaining a similar power output to the outgoing Monster.
Key Highlights:
- Ducati Monster V2 India launch expected soon
- New 890cc engine to replace the outgoing 937cc V-twin
- Produces 111hp, with peak power arriving earlier
- Monster V2 is 4kg lighter at 175kg
Ducati Monster V2: Engine
The biggest change comes under the skin. The new Ducati Monster V2 is expected to use an 890cc V-twin engine instead of the outgoing model’s 937cc unit. The engine is already used in other Ducati motorcycles, including the Panigale V2, Streetfighter V2 and Multistrada V2.
Despite the smaller displacement, the new engine is expected to produce 111hp, almost identical to the outgoing Monster. However, peak power now arrives at 9,000rpm, earlier than the 9,250rpm mark of the current motorcycle.
Peak torque stands at 91.1Nm, down by around 2Nm from the outgoing model’s 93Nm. The torque peak, however, comes later at 7,250rpm compared to 6,500rpm previously.
Monster V2 Gets A New Chassis
Ducati has also made significant changes to the motorcycle’s chassis. The Monster V2 uses a monocoque chassis, replacing the aluminium frame used on the outgoing model.
The fuel tank has also been redesigned and appears larger than before. However, its actual capacity remains unchanged at 14 litres.
Ducati Monster V2 to be 4kg Lighter
Weight reduction is another major highlight of the new Monster V2. The motorcycle has a wet weight of 175kg without fuel, making it around 4kg lighter than the outgoing model.
The lower weight, combined with the revised chassis and new engine characteristics, could make the Monster V2 more agile and responsive than the current motorcycle.
Ducati Monster V2 India Price and Rivals
Ducati currently sells the Monster in India at a starting price of Rs 13.84 lakh (ex-showroom). The price of the upcoming Monster V2 is yet to be announced.
