Honda CB500 Launched in India at Rs 2.75 Lakh: Check Variants, Engine, Features and More

Honda has expanded its modern-classic motorcycle range in India with the launch of the new CB500. Positioned as a larger retro roadster, the motorcycle combines classic styling with a relatively simple single-cylinder engine and modern features such as traction control and dual-channel ABS. It is available in three variants, with prices going up to Rs 3.02 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Honda CB500 gets a 501cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine producing 28bhp and 43Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired with a 5-speed gearbox and a slipper clutch. The motorcycle's engine setup suggests that Honda has focused on accessible torque and relaxed road riding rather than outright performance. However, more detailed specifications are yet to be revealed.

The CB500 follows a classic roadster design, featuring a round LED headlight, teardrop-shaped fuel tank and a long, single-piece seat. Its upright riding stance further adds to its retro character. The engine gets an aluminium finish, while the chunky exhaust muffler features a chrome finish. Together, these elements give the motorcycle a traditional roadster appearance with some modern touches.

The motorcycle gets a minimalist analogue instrument cluster with a small digital display. The display shows information such as the gear position, odometer and trip meter. Despite its classic design, Honda has equipped the CB500 with modern safety features. These include dual-channel ABS and a switchable traction control system.

The bike rides on a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel setup. The higher variants come with tubeless spoke wheels, which could appeal to riders looking for the combination of retro styling and everyday practicality.

Honda is yet to reveal several specifications, including the motorcycle's seat height and kerb weight. Deliveries are expected to begin by the end of 2026. With its 501cc single-cylinder engine and pricing, the CB500 sits between the 350cc and 650cc motorcycles from Royal Enfield in terms of engine capacity and positioning. Its combination of a larger single-cylinder engine, retro styling and tubeless spoke wheels could give it a distinct place in the modern-classic motorcycle segment.
