Kia Sorento Hybrid SUV Teased Ahead of India Launch; Pre-Bookings Open

The upcoming Sorento is set to become the new flagship model of the automaker in its ICE lineup in the country. Kia has revealed that this SUV will be introduced in the country in a hybrid avatar.

The image teased by the automaker offers a glimpse of the SUV under wraps; where the Sorento appears to have an upright stance and bold lines, the image also offers a glimpse of the lighting setup which has Kia’s signature LED DRLs which is similar to ones seen in the Carens Clavis. Its headlight setup consists of four vertically stacked LEDs, it also appears to sport a quad-LED fog lamp setup. These design cues indicate that India is slated to get the latest iteration of the Sorento.

The Sorento is a three-row premium SUV which is likely to compete with the likes of Toyota Fortuner, MG Majestor and other SUVs in the segment. The global iteration of the Sorento is 4,815mm long, 1900mm wide, 1700mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,815mm. In the international market the Sorento hybrid comes equipped with a 1.6L 4-cyl turbo-petrol engine working in combination with the hybrid system to put out a combined power output of 223.89bhp and 350Nm of torque. This powertrain is mated to a 6-speed AT.

The Sorento is expected to be introduced laden with safety, utility and convenience features in the country. The Sorento is expected to launch the Sorento in India in an ex-showroom price range of Rs 39 lakh to Rs 49 lakh.
