KTM 125, 250, 390, 990 Duke Recalled Globally Over Fuel Cap Seal Issue
KTM has initiated a global recall for its 2024 Duke motorcycle models, including the 125, 250, 390, and 990 Dukes, due to potential issues with fuel tank cap seals that might develop cracks, risking fuel leaks. The recall was officially announced in November 2025, and affected owners are urged to schedule appointments at authorized service centers for seal replacements, which will be free. Additionally, Bajaj Auto recently finalized its acquisition of KTM’s parent company, leading to corporate restructuring and name changes for associated entities.

KTM has announced a global recall for the 2024 versions of the 125 Duke, 250 Duke, 390 Duke and 990 Duke. According to the company, internal quality tests showed that some fuel tank cap seals may not meet expected requirements. The recall notice was issued in November 2025.

Reason for the Recall
KTM stated that a few fuel tank cap seals on the 2024 Duke models could develop small cracks due to material deviations. These cracks may allow fuel to leak from the tank cap area. To address this, KTM will replace the fuel tank cap seal on all affected motorcycles.
What Owners Should Do
KTM is reaching out to customers individually and asking them to book an appointment with an authorised service centre. Owners can also check if their motorcycle is included in the recall by visiting the official KTM website and navigating to the service section.
The replacement will be carried out only at authorised KTM workshops and will be free of charge. In India, the 990 Duke was not sold, but owners of the 125 Duke, 250 Duke and 390 Duke (2024 models) are advised to contact their service centre for confirmation.
Background Corporate Update
Recently, Bajaj Auto completed its acquisition of Pierer Bajaj AG (PBAG) parent company of KTM. This move gives Bajaj an indirect 74.9% stake in PIERER Mobility AG and KTM AG. As part of the restructuring, PBAG will be renamed Bajaj Auto International Holdings AG, while PMAG will be renamed Bajaj Mobility AG. Governance changes are now underway following the acquisition.
