The facelift is scheduled to launch in India tomorrow, September 5, 2026, and is expected to bring changes to the hatchback’s design, features and powertrain. Several test mules and leaked details have already given us an idea of what the updated Baleno could offer.
Key Highlights
  • Launch scheduled for September 5, 2026

  • Expected to feature a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen
  • Could get a new 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine

Maruti Suzuki Baleno Facelift: Expected Exterior Design

The biggest changes are expected at the front. The new Baleno could get a redesigned grille with a horizontal chrome bar connecting the headlamps. The boomerang-shaped LED DRLs are expected to continue, while the bumper and fog lamp housing will be updated.
The hatchback could also get newly designed 16-inch alloy wheels and a revised rear bumper, giving it a slightly different look compared with the current model.

Maruti Suzuki Baleno Facelift: Expected Interior and Features

The Baleno facelift is expected to receive a premium cabin, although the basic dashboard layout is likely to remain familiar. A larger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, similar to the unit used in the Maruti Suzuki Victoris, could be added along with a wireless phone charger.
Other expected additions include a new cabin theme, updated upholstery, ventilated front seats, a single-pane sunroof and a Level 1 ADAS package.
The flat-bottom steering wheel, trapezoidal AC vents and physical HVAC controls are likely to be carried forward. Existing features such as the six-speaker Arkamys audio system, Head-Up Display, OTA updates, voice assistant, auto-dimming IRVM, connected car technology, keyless entry, automatic climate control and 360-degree camera could also continue.

Maruti Suzuki Baleno Facelift: Expected Engine

One of the biggest changes could be under the bonnet. Reports suggest that Maruti Suzuki may introduce the 1.2-litre, three-cylinder Z-Series petrol engine from the Swift.
The engine produces a claimed 82 PS and 112 Nm of torque. Manual and AMT gearbox options are expected to continue.
The Baleno facelift could also become Maruti Suzuki's first model to offer a CNG powertrain with an AMT gearbox, although this is yet to be officially confirmed.

Maruti Suzuki Baleno Facelift: Expected Price and Rivals

The updated Baleno is likely to receive a small price increase over the current model. The outgoing version is priced between Rs 5.99 lakh and Rs 9.48 lakh (ex-showroom).
The facelift will continue to compete with models such as the Tata Altroz, Hyundai i20 and Toyota Glanza. With its revised styling, additional features and possible engine changes, the new Baleno is expected to strengthen Maruti Suzuki's position in the premium hatchback segment.
