The new automatic CNG variants are part of Maruti Suzuki's “Auto Green Mission”, which combines the lower running costs of CNG with the convenience of an automatic transmission.
The Swift S-CNG AMT is priced from Rs 7.92 lakh, while the Dzire S-CNG AMT starts at Rs 8.53 lakh. The Baleno S-CNG AMT has a starting price of Rs 8.32 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom.
Maruti Suzuki claims that the Dzire S-CNG AMT, with its claimed mileage of 36.47 km/kg, is the most fuel-efficient sedan in India.

Maruti Swift, Dzire and Baleno S-CNG AMT: Engine

All three models are powered by Maruti Suzuki's 1.2-litre, three-cylinder Z12E petrol engine. The engine comes with Dual Variable Valve Timing (Dual VVT) and Idle Start Stop (ISS) technology. In petrol mode, the engine produces 82bhp and 112Nm, while in CNG mode, output stands at 69bhp and 101Nm.
The engine is paired with a five-speed AMT, allowing the car to shift gears automatically without requiring the driver to operate a clutch pedal. Drivers can also manually select gears when required.

CNG Mileage and Fuel Tank Details

The Swift, Dzire and Baleno S-CNG AMT deliver claimed fuel-efficiency figures of 35.34 km/kg, 36.47 km/kg and 34.47 km/kg, respectively. The cars feature a 37-litre petrol tank along with a 55-litre CNG tank positioned in the rear section. The addition of the CNG system does, however, mean buyers need to consider the impact on boot space.
Maruti Suzuki said its S-CNG vehicle sales increased by 58 percent in the first quarter compared with the same period last year. The company also recorded its highest-ever monthly S-CNG sales of 83,000 units in July.
The automaker's S-CNG models use an Intelligent Injection System for air-fuel management. The system also includes stainless steel pipes and joints designed to reduce corrosion and leakage risks. The cars also get integrated wiring and a microswitch that prevents the engine from starting while CNG is being refuelled. The Idle Start Stop (ISS) system is designed to reduce fuel consumption in heavy traffic by switching off the engine when stationary and restarting it when required.
