Mercedes-Benz CLE, AMG CLE, AMG C-Class Recalled in India: Details
The Indian division of the German luxury automaker, Mercedes-Benz has issued a recall for three cars in the country. The reason cited by the automaker for this recall states that this recall has been issued to address a potential software issue related to the Emergency Stop Assist feature.
Mercedes-Benz has recalled the CLE, AMG CLE and AMG C-Class in India. Under this recall the automaker will address the potential issue where the Emergency Stop Assist does not get initiated if the car does not detect steering movement or hands on the steering wheel. This recall affects a total of 149 units in India.
The description of this potential issue states that, “In the process, it has been determined that the assistive feature of Emergency Stop Assist might not be available. In the event the system detects that the driver has not steered the vehicle for a considerable period of time or has removed their hands from the steering wheel due to some medical emergency of the driver, the assistive feature of automated emergency stop might therefore not be initiated as intended. As a result, the associated automatic emergency call may not be initiated.”
Mercedes-Benz CLE models manufactured between September 2nd 2024 and March 18th 2025, CME AMG models manufactured from December 12th 2024 till March 18th 2025 and the AMG C-Class models manufactured from October 23rd 2024 to November 23rd 2024.
Owners of the affected vehicles should contact their nearest Mercedes-Benz India touchpoint. Users of these vehicles should also watch out for any abnormalities while driving and avoid dependance on the Emergency Stop Assist feature till the issue is fixed.
