Mini Countryman C Pre-Bookings Open in India, Will be Locally Assembled

The Indian division of the British legacy automaker Mini has kicked open the pre-launch bookings for the new Countryman C in the country. The pre-bookings for Countryman C commenced in India on April 22nd 2026, across authorised dealerships, ahead of its official launch.

Sharing this update the automaker shared that the new Countryman C will be locally assembled at the BMW Group’s Chennai facility in India. Mini is owned by the German automotive conglomerate, BMW Group. With this the Countryman C will become the second internal combustion engine (ICE) version of the latest-generation Countryman to arrive in India after the performance-focused JCW variant. Local production is expected to help position the SUV more competitively in its segment with more accessible pricing.

In terms of design, the Mini Countryman C adopts a more restrained design compared to the JCW version. It sports a simpler front bumper layout without aggressive elements such as large air vents or contrasting inserts. The overall design language remains closer to the Countryman Electric, including similar alloy wheel patterns.

On the inside the Countryman C carries forward Mini’s new-generation cabin layout. A large circular central touchscreen takes centre stage, while a head-up display (HUD) replaces the traditional instrument cluster. The dashboard and door trims feature a knitted textile finish, consistent with other variants in the lineup.

The Mini Countryman C is powered by a 1.5L 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine which churns out 168bhp and 280Nm of torque in the global model. This engine is mated to a 7-speed AT. It sports a front-wheel drive (FWD) configuration.

The Countryman C following its launch in India will join the expansive Mini Countryman lineup in the country which boasts multiple powertrain options. In the Countryman lineup in India the petrol-powered Countryman C sits as a more accessible alternative, while the JCW Countryman All4 caters to performance-focused buyers. The Countryman Electric range, including E and SE All4 variants, represents the brand’s electric offerings in India. Mini is expected to introduce the Countryman C in India in an ex-showroom price range of Rs 50 to 55 lakh.
