Ola Gen 3 Electric Scooter Portfolio Now Eligible for PLI Incentives of Up to 18 Percent
Ola Electric has achieved certification under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for its Gen 3 scooter lineup, which includes seven models. The Automotive Research Association of India granted this certification, allowing Ola to receive incentives of 13% to 18% of the determined sales value until 2028. This development is expected to enhance profitability from FY26. At its ‘Sankalp’ event, Ola also launched the S1 Pro Sport and showcased the Diamondhead motorcycle, set for release by mid-2027, further strengthening its market position.

The Gen 3 platform will introduce several technological advancements, including battery as a structural component, a magnet-less motor, single board electronics, and Autonomous Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). These innovations are designed to enhance power delivery by 30% and improve energy efficiency by 10%, while also reducing the overall weight of the scooters by 10%. This positions Ola Electric to offer a more efficient and safer riding experience.
The Gen 3 scooters boast a 20% increase in peak power and a similar increase in range compared to their predecessors. For example, the flagship S1 Pro+ model can reach a top speed of 141 km/h and offers a riding range of 320 km on a single charge, showcasing significant enhancements in both speed and efficiency over earlier models.
Ola Electric anticipates that the PLI scheme will significantly bolster its profitability starting in Q2 FY26. The incentives, which range from 13% to 18% of the determined sales value, are expected to improve the company's cost structure and margins, paving the way for sustainable growth and enabling it to offer competitive prices for its electric vehicles.
The Gen 3 scooters come with a standard warranty of three years or 40,000 km for both the scooter and the battery. Customers also have the option to extend the battery warranty to eight years or 125,000 km for an additional fee, ensuring long-term reliability and peace of mind for buyers.
Ola Electric is planning to expand its product lineup by introducing the Diamondhead electric motorcycle by mid-2027, priced around Rs 5 lakh. Additionally, there are expectations of launching new series such as S2 and S3, which will feature a range of commuter and premium models, further diversifying their offerings in the electric two-wheeler market.
