Porsche Panamera Recalled in India Over Side Airbag Sensor Issue
Porsche is recalling 158 Panamera units in India due to a wiring issue affecting side-airbag crash sensors. This voluntary recall pertains to models manufactured between July 19, 2023, and September 2, 2025, specifically variants YAA and YAB. The incorrect wiring may delay airbag deployment during a crash, increasing the risk of injury. Vehicle owners will be notified directly and can verify their vehicle's status online. This marks Porsche's second recall in India this year, following a prior issue with rear seat-belt buckles.

The recall said, "It is discovered that in Porsche Panamera models (YAA/YAB), manufactured during the aforesaid period, due to temporary manufacturing error in production, the cabling for the crash sensors in the door trim panel was incorrectly assigned. An incorrectly assigned sensor can delay the side airbag trigger in a particular crash situation. Such a delayed trigger of the side airbag increases the risk of injury."
Next Steps for Vehicle Owners
Porsche is expected to directly inform owners of the impacted vehicles and schedule inspection and repair work at authorised service centres. The corrective action will be carried out at no cost to customers.
Owners may also independently check if their vehicle is included in the recall by visiting Porsche’s recall website (recall.porsche.com) and entering their vehicle identification number (VIN) for confirmation.
Similar Issue Reported in Other Markets
The same airbag sensor wiring issue has been reported in other regions. Earlier this year, 142 Panamera units in Australia were recalled for a similar cabling error affecting side-airbag deployment. The repeated occurrence across markets indicates that the fault may be linked to production batches from the same period.
Second Porsche Recall in India in 2025
This is Porsche’s second recall in India this year, based on SIAM’s publicly available data. In March 2025, the brand recalled the Porsche 991 series due to a fault involving the rear seat-belt buckles.
In that earlier recall, an aluminium butyl mat had been incorrectly positioned during assembly. This caused the screw connection for the rear seat-belt buckles to be improperly secured, raising the possibility of the buckles loosening in an accident or under sudden braking.
