Range Rover Electric Unveiled Globally with 543bhp; India Bookings Open
Luxury SUV maker JLR has officially unveiled the Range Rover Electric, marking the brand’s first fully electric model. In a notable move for the Indian market, bookings for the electric SUV have opened in India on the same day as its global reveal. The flagship electric SUV will be built at JLR’s Solihull plant in the UK, the same facility that has been producing the Range Rover since 1970.
Key Highlights:
- Range Rover Electric makes its global debut as JLR’s first fully electric Range Rover
- India bookings open alongside the global reveal
- Twin-motor setup produces up to 543bhp and 850Nm
- Gets a 118.5kWh battery, 800V architecture and up to 535km real-world range
Range Rover Electric: Powertrain and Range
The Range Rover Electric is powered by a dual-motor setup, with both motors using permanent-magnet technology. Together, they produce up to 543bhp and 850Nm of torque. JLR says this is the highest torque figure ever offered in a Range Rover.

The electric SUV uses a 118.5kWh battery pack with an 800-volt electrical architecture. It supports DC fast charging from 10 to 80 per cent in around 22 minutes when connected to a 350kW charger. Range Rover also claims that around 220km of range can be added in just 10 minutes of charging.
Range Rover claims the Electric can deliver up to 535km of real-world range, while its official WLTP-rated range stands at up to 600km.
The SUV also features a near-silent powertrain, which is expected to make the cabin experience even quieter and more refined than the conventionally powered Range Rover.
Range Rover Electric: Off-Road Capability Retained
Despite switching to an all-electric powertrain, JLR has focused heavily on maintaining the Range Rover’s off-road credentials.
The SUV gets a new Integrated Traction Management system, which can respond to changes in the surface in just 50 milliseconds. It also features a single-pedal driving mode and can tackle slopes of up to 45 degrees.
The Range Rover Electric retains a 900mm wading depth, matching the brand’s established all-terrain capability.
Range Rover Electric: Variants
The electric Range Rover will be offered in multiple versions. The lineup includes the standard-wheelbase Autobiography, along with long-wheelbase SV, SV Ultra and SV Black variants.
There will also be a limited First Edition, which will be available in Belgravia Green, Santorini Black and Varesine Blue exterior colours. It also gets a newly introduced interior trim.
Range Rover Electric: India Price and Rivals
JLR has not yet announced the India price of the Range Rover Electric. Once launched, it will compete with other premium electric SUVs such as the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV, Volvo EX90 and BMW iX.
